Why clothes were invented

Every now and again, its helpful to be reminded of why things are the way they are.   Many traditions and rules are founded in necessity, and help bring about an orderly  society, as well as a more pleasant existence for all.  A handshake conveys greetings, or agreement.   Stop signs prevent crashes at intersections.   And clothing prevents things like the Philadelphia Naked Bike Ride.

Recently, Philadelphia held its Naked Bike Ride.  Of course, anything with the words “nude” or “naked” with the possibility of women involved will attract my attention.  When I stumbled upon the philly.com posting, I had to click through.

Now, combine my love of naked women with my love of cycling, and you’ve got a the makins of a pretty compelling event – in theory.   I’m sure you had to be there to really appreciate it, but all I can see is a damn good argument for modest attire.

These naked rides happen in every liberal city (San Francisco has the one closest to you). For some reason Scarlett Johansen is NEVER in attendance. Someone should clue them in that if they ban the people we don’t want to see naked, and invite the people we do want to see… Well they’d have a LOT of spectators!
